What a super holiday in Star cottage! We could not fault a thing and loved all the little touches like being able to collect our own freshly laid eggs for breakfast and our cream tea on arrival. Staying here is an absolute must if visiting North Devon!

So much to do in North Devon this October

Published: 20 October, 2018

Westward Living holiday cottages are located on the coast in Westward Ho! In North Devon, as well as being a few minutes from the golden sandy beach at Westward Ho! We are also perfectly located to be within easy reach of the best North Devon tourist attractions.

The Big Sheep is a much-loved local tourist attraction and it is situated less than two miles away from our Westward Living self-catering holiday cottages. This award-winning attraction opens its doors once again for lots of spooky fun and games from 20thOctober through until 31stOctober. In October, the Big Sheep team really go to town with probably the best Halloween offering in North Devon.  The Big Sheep Halloween Festival is well known in North Devon and they offer the “real scare factor” for those who are brave enough.  There is a Scary by Night tour which offers you the chance to explore the park after dark.

For our younger Westward Living guests we recommend the Fun by Day Halloween festival celebration.  This year the free attractions include, face painting, themed rides, fancy dress competitions and pumpkin carvings.  The Big Sheep are offering 1 free pumpkin per family this year so come and see Rich in our reception building and we will sort you out with a free pumpkin voucher.

The Westward Ho! locals will be celebrating their 2nd "Day of the Dead Festival" on 20thOctober in the village of Westward Ho! This is a free event which starts at the Haunted House and walks along the Seafront with a fireworks celebration on the village green in front of the Seahorse Apartments at Latitude 51. Holiday makers and locals are all encouraged to join in and get dressed up and have some spooky fun!

North Devon is such a beautiful part of the world all year round.  Autumn is a magical time to enjoy the stunning beaches and rolling coastal countryside surrounding our luxury self-catering holiday cottages in Westward Ho! Our cottages have private access to the spectacular South West Coast Path, which is ideal for walkers and nature lovers.  Take a trek along the rugged coastline or enjoy an intrepid cycling adventure along the Tarka Trail before returning to your cosy and luxurious holiday cottage at the end of the day. Bikes are available to hire from Bideford Cycle hire and you can drive to the hire centre and leave your car there.  Bideford Cycle hire offers a range of bikes for both half and full day rentals.  If those limbs are aching why not treat yourself to a relaxing sports massage in the comfort  of your cottage with experienced sports therapist Anna Whear.

We want to make sure you have an unforgettable time during your stay with us, so we'd be delighted to provide personalised recommendations on how to make the most of your autumn Westward Living holiday by the sea.
