We know how lucky we are to live in this area with so much to do and see, so giving back is central to our ethos. We are an active part of the North Devon business community and do our best to support local charities as well as National Charities which are alined with our core values.
Back in 2010 we adopted our beloved Raffles from the local animal rescue charity – The North Devon Animal Ambulance. Headed up by Diana Lewis and her team of incredible volunteers, the NDDA works tirelessly to rescue and rehome animals all over North Devon. Raffles certainly landed on his paws when he was adopted by Kathy and Chris, as well as being a much-loved member of the family, he has also worked up the ranks to be Head (and Tail) of Canine Customer Services at Westward Living.
We love to support our local community here in North Devon, in order to maintain our high standards as a provider of luxury self-catering accommodation, this means we do need to replenish our beds, linen and furniture on our regular basis. It is really important to us to recycle whereever possible and it is also equally as important that we support our local community in North Devon. We had the opportunity to donate 40 full bed sets to a much loved and respected local charity, teh Freedom Centre in Barnstaple.
Bideford Boxing Club welcomes boxers from aged 6 to 88 and offers a range of activities for the community including a well-attended Parkinson’s group. The club has produced many incredible fighters including Tommy Langford, GB team member Dylan Burston and recently turned Pro Billy Stanbury. Ringside Charitable Trust is national charity which has been set up to care for professional boxers at the end of their careers. Westward Living offers respite holidays to ex boxers and has also part funded and project managed the extention for the Bideford Boxing Club. We were delighted to welcome Michael Watson MBE for a fabulous relaxing stay.
We love supporting our local football club and the Sellebrity Soccer team by hosting the players at Westward Living. Each year this incredible event raises thousands of pounds for local charities and it a real highlight in the calendar - a must if you are visiting Westward Ho! in July.
